Four People Dead After Two-Alarm Fire

TUESDAY, 7:24 PM: A two-alarm fire in a six-story apartment building claimed the lives of four female victims. Firefighters and police officers responded to a 911 call of a fire on Grand Concourse near E 172nd Street. The soaring flames were captured on video by dozens of Citizen users. Firefighters raised a second alarm and, after approximately three hours, were able to contain the fire. The NYPD stated that four women in two neighboring apartments were pronounced deceased after being transported to hospitals with critical burns. A fifth person reportedly suffered minor injuries. The NYC Fire Marshal will determine the cause of the fire and the investigation is ongoing.

Firefighters on scene have confirmed that there were several injuries sustained but the fire is under control. Four of the victims were determined to have critical injuries and the final victim was treated for minor injuries.
