Girl Fatally Struck by School Bus

UPDATE: 9:01 AM: Police are now reporting that the victim was a 10-year-old girl. 6:30 AM, TUESDAY – Police responded to a report of a child struck by a school bus at the corner of Crescent Street & Wortman Avenue. According to NYPD officials, a school bus that was not carrying children was turning from Crescent Street onto Wortman Avenue at the same time a 10-year-old girl entered the crosswalk with the intent to cross Wortman Avenue. She was struck by the school bus. The child was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene. The investigation is ongoing and there have been no arrests.

Officers have taped off the intersection in which the child was struck. The child, whose current condition is unknown, is being transported to a hospital.
