Timeline

Police are continuing to investigate after four men were found beaten to death with a large metal object in Chinatown early this morning in two related incidents. One man has been hospitalized with serious injuries. A suspect armed with a possible construction stud was taken into custody.

Local news reports indicate the victims were attacked in their sleep with a 3' long piece of metal, similar to a construction stud.

The Strategic Response Group (SRG) has also been requested back to the scene.

The NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) and Homeless Outreach units are still responding to the crime scene.

Police believe the earlier attack in which one was killed and another wounded on Doyers St and Bowery is related to this incident.

Officials from the DCPI (Deputy Commissioner of Public Information) report that three unidentified men were discovered with injuries to the head. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene. Police believe that the man brought into custody in the fatal assault on Doyers St & Bowery is the suspect. However, the investigation is ongoing.

It is unclear if this assault is related to the fatal assault which occurred around 2:15 a.m. at Doyers Street & Bowery in which one man also suffered fatal head trauma, while another is in critical condition.

Police have requested that officers in three separate lower Manhattan precincts, including transit officers, search the entirety of their patrols for any additional victims.

Police report both of the men at the scene have been pronounced deceased due to head trauma.

EMTs report both of the assaulted men may have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Officers at the scene have requested the maximum possible response from the NYPD's Homeless Outreach Unit.

Police have requested response from the NYPD's Strategic Response Group.

At least two people have been assaulted.

Officers are establishing a crime scene.

EMTs and additional police officers have been requested to the scene of an unspecified incident.
