A suspect was found dead in Brooklyn Wednesday morning, two days after the fatal shooting of a woman and wounding of her neighbor in an apartment building in Ridgewood, Queens.

During a press briefing on Tuesday, the NYPD confirmed that the victim killed was a civilian member of the police department with 11 years of service.

The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Pedro Cintron.

[Reports](https://nypost.com/2022/05/11/pedro-cintron-suspect-in-fatal-nyc-shooting-commits-suicide-cops/) said that Cintron shot himself in the head in "public view" on McKibbin Street near Manhattan Avenue in Williamsburg at about 7:50 a.m. A gun was found at the scene, according to radio communications.

On Tuesday at 8:17 a.m., officers responded to 66-17 Fresh Pond Rd for a report of a woman shot.

Officers first located a 48-year-old woman with two gunshot wounds. They then found a 51-year-old woman, later identified as NYPD employee Migdalia Ortega, with a fatal gunshot wound on the floor above. She was pronounced dead later that morning at an area hospital, while the first victim was in critical but stable condition.

Officials said at a briefing that the shooting happened during a domestic dispute between Ortega and Cintron, who were in a relationship, on the third floor of the building.

The 48-year-old woman who lived on floor below checked on her neighbors when she was shot at through the door.

The suspect then reportedly chased her while continuing to fire. She was struck twice.

Police said her family will receive assistance from the department.

A search continued for Cintron and his vehicle for nearly 48 hours until he was found dead Wednesday morning.

The incident is under investigation with NYPD detectives.

Police have added to their description of the suspect, saying that he fled in a vehicle on Fresh Pond Rd & Palmetto St, going the opposite direction of traffic.

Officials have confirmed that both victims—a 51- and a 48-year-old woman—are in critical condition at Elmhurst Hospital. There are no arrests and no suspect information is currently available.

Police are searching for the suspect vehicle which has been described as a black 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe with an NYC license plate of BRU8209.

Police advise that the two women were fatally injured in the shooting. They have also amended their suspect vehicle description, describing it now as a dark blue Nissan Rogue with a New York license plate of JJT4574.
