Police arrested and charged a suspect in Friday's shooting near a South Bronx high school that left one teenager dead and two others wounded, officials said.

At around 1:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a shooting near the corner of E 156th Street and St. Anne's Avenue. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered three teenagers who had been shot. 

One of the victims, a 16-year-old girl, had been shot in the chest and was pronounced deceased after she was taken to the hospital. 

The two remaining victims, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, had been shot in the shin and upper leg respectively. They were taken by EMS to an area hospital where they were listed in stable condition. 

According to a briefing from NYPD Chief Timothy McCormick, surveillance footage showed the shooter gesturing towards another person at the intersection before pulling out a gun and firing at them. 

The three victims were then struck by wayward gunfire as they were walking home. 

Just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, NYPD Commissioner Sewell reported that 17-year-old Jeremiah Ryan was arrested and has been charged for crimes related to the shooting and murder of the victims.

Homicide detectives are investigating.
