Firefighters rescued three people from a fire that spread inside a five-story apartment building in Hell’s Kitchen early Wednesday morning. The rescued residents, along with three firefighters, suffered minor injuries.

The fire was reported in an apartment on the second floor at 401 W. 50th Street at approximately 1:19 a.m.

Citizen video showed heavy flames coming from windows on the third floor.

Firefighters shortly after arriving on scene transmitted a second alarm to request additional units. In total, 25 units and 106 fire personnel were used to extinguish the fire.

At about 2:13 a.m., firefighters declared the fire under control.

The residents and three firefighters were transported to hospitals to be treated for minor injuries.

The FDNY told reporters the fire appeared to have started in the third floor and extended to the second.

The fire is under investigation.
