A woman was killed in an East Harlem shooting, police say.

At around 9:25 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a report of a person shot inside of an apartment located at 70 E 108th Street.
 
Officers arriving at the scene identified a 39-year-old woman who had been shot in the head.

EMS responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Jaiteh Fatuuomat. 

Police say they’ve taken a 22-year-old man, identified as Camara Musa into custody with regards to the shooting. 


Woman Killed in East Harlem Shooting, Suspect in Custody

Police have received an unconfirmed report of a woman shot.

Police are searching for a Black man in his 20's with braids in his hair, last seen wearing a black jacket, a red shirt, and jeans.

Police have detained the suspect near Madison Ave and E 108th St.

Police advise the victim is in critical condition.
