Police are investigating after a man and woman were fatally shot in the Financial District Monday morning.

At approximately 9:20 a.m., officers received a report of two people shot at Morris Street and Greenwich Street, a block away from the Charging Bull at Bowling Green.

Upon arrival, they found a 40-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man with gunshot wounds.

The woman was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, while the man was pronounced at the scene.

Police recovered a firearm at the scene. Officers at the scene said the incident appeared to be domestic in nature, and they were not actively searching for a suspect.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police and EMS are responding to a report of a person shot.

Police on scene advise at least two people have been shot.

One of the victims may be holding a firearm.

Officers advise that both victims are unresponsive and unconscious. One victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head, and the other to the stomach. Ambulances are en route to the scene.

Officers are closing access to Rector Street Station (R) (W).

The victims are described as one man and one woman.

Officers on scene advise that they are not searching for a suspect and that there is no further threat to the public.

Police advise that both people's injuries may be life-threatening.

According to the police, the suspect was one of the gunshot wound victims.
