7-Year-Old Boy Killed, Mother Injured After Being Struck by Vehicle

Police have requested an expedited ambulance to the scene to treat the injured victim.

Incident reported at Pennsylvania Avenue & Blake Avenue.

Police on the scene report the victim was a 10-year-old child.

Police now say the vehicle struck both the child and their mother.

Police say the mother's injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are requesting additional units to the scene, adding that the victims have been taken to Brookdale Hospital.

The Collision Investigation Squad is en route to the scene. The CIS is a specialized unit that investigates major traffic collisions around the city.

Police are now reporting the child, a boy, is in critical condition, adding that the mother is stable.

The boy's age is now reported to be seven.

Video from Citizen user missbright3 shows police have cordoned off an area at the intersection in order to further conduct their investigation.

Police say that the boy has succumbed to his injuries.

8:16 AM, THURSDAY – Police and EMS responded to a report of a mother and child struck by a vehicle near Pennsylvania Avenue & Blake Avenue. The mother and 10-year-old child were both rushed to a nearby hospital where the child was initially listed in critical condition. The mother was listed in stable condition. Shortly thereafter, NYPD sources confirmed that the child had died as a result of his injuries. The investigation is ongoing and police have not reported any arrests.
