A 29-year-old man was fatally shot while standing outside an apartment building in Fordham Heights late Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a person shot at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Officials said the victim was standing outside of 2323 Walton Avenue when three male suspects got out of a black Volkswagen and approached the victim.

One of the suspects took out a gun and shot the victim once in the head.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to NYPD officials.

Officials did not provide any more information about the suspects, but radio communications conveyed that they were all wearing ski masks.

No arrests have been made.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Police have received an unconfirmed 911 report of a person shot.

Police have also received another unconfirmed report of a man shot at 2015 Walton Ave. It is unclear if the two are related.

Another 911 caller has updated the location of the man shot. It stated that the man was shot at 2310 Walton Ave.

Police have stopped a person for questioning.

Police are stopping southbound traffic on E 184th St & Walton Ave.

Police were advised by a witness that the suspect fled southbound on Walton Ave toward E 183rd St around 10 minutes ago.

Police confirm that a man was shot. The extent of his injuries is unclear.

EMS stated that the man sustained injuries that are life-threatening, per police. The NYPD Emergency Service Unit (ESU) has also been requested for evidence collection.

Police have also requested additional units to gather at the crime scene to aid in the investigation.

Police have provided the suspect vehicle description: It is a black Volkswagen Passat bearing a temporary NJ plate that reads 119964T. The suspect made a right on Walton Ave toward Jerome Ave while making the escape, per police.

Police state that the vehicle was occupied by three men.

The address reported for this incident has changed to 2323 Walton Ave.

All three suspects were wearing ski masks at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Police stated that the man was transported to a hospital.

Police have requested an additional unit to assist with crowd control.
