A 14-year-old boy was shot in the leg inside Kings Plaza Shopping Center in Mill Basin Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to reports of an active shooter at the mall at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The mall was evacuated as officers searched for the suspect.

The victim was located across the street from the mall at a Halal restaurant with a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition.

Officers canvassed the area and stopped three suspects at Avenue O and 53rd Street. They recovered two firearms.

An NYPD official told Citizen the individuals were being questioned. Police could not confirm if any additional suspects were being sought by police.

Upon preliminary investigation, officers learned that the shooting happened on the first floor of the mall. The suspects and victim apparently fled out of the building after the shooting.

Officers advised there were no other victims and that the incident was not of an active shooter.
