A massive fire broke out at a chemical plant in Binghampton Tuesday afternoon, officials confirmed with local news outlets.

At approximately 4 p.m. firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the PMC Biogenix chemical plant in the 1200 block of Pope Street.

According to the plant's website, "PMC Biogenix is a global, innovation-driven developer, manufacturer and marketer of specialty chemicals produced from renewable resources."

A large plume of black smoke could be seen from across the Downtown Memphis area.

Officials have not confirmed what caused the fire or if there are any injuries.

One Injured in Chemical Plant Fire

Firefighters are responding to an unconfirmed report of a building fire.

Firefighters on scene advise that smoke is emanating from the building.

Firefighters on the scene are working to extinguish a fire in an open warehouse. There are reported to be two people trapped in the building. Firefighters are yet to locate the people if any.

The address reported for this incident has changed to 1231 Pope St.

Firefighters on the scene have located one victim on the first floor of the warehouse. They are all evacuating the building after the walls showed signs of collapsing.

Firefighters report that there is still fire on the second floor at the back side of the warehouse.
