Two people were killed and one person was injured in a Upper West Side apartment fire Wednesday night, officials said.

At 11:34 p.m., firefighters responded to 216 West 62nd Street for a report of a fire.

Upon arrival, crews located flames on the fourth floor of the six-story apartment building.

In total, 60 firefighters responded to the scene. Citizen user videos captured the large FDNY presence as crews extended a ladder to a fourth floor window.

FDNY officials said EMS personnel transported two people with critical injuries and one person with minor injuries to an area hospital. NYPD officials stated a 44-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were pronounced dead.

The fire was declared under control at 12:20 a.m.

FDNY officials said the was fireproof, meaning the it was designed to prevent fires from spreading.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. NYPD officials said the New York City Fire Marshal deemed the fire not suspicious.
