A man was fatally shot early Sunday morning in St. Albans, police said. 

At 12:19 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting in front of 187-43 Quencer Road, where they located an unconscious 19-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the thigh. 

EMS personnel transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

While radio transmissions from the scene indicated the shots may have been fired from a passing Nissan Maxima, this was not confirmed and no suspect description was provided in a preliminary statement from NYPD officials.

No arrests have been made. 

An investigation is ongoing.

ShotSpotter technology, which picks up loud noises like gunshots, fireworks, and cars backfiring, has detected the sound of potential gunfire.

Police are receiving an additional unconfirmed report that a man was shot during a drive-by shooting.

Police on scene advise that the man was shot by a suspect inside of a champagne-colored Nissan maxima.

The address reported for this incident has changed to Ovid Pl & Quencer Rd.

According to a statement released by the NYPD DCPI, the victim was pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
