A man was killed and a woman was injured in a double shooting in Morrisania late Thursday night. One person has been taken into custody.

The shooting took place at approximately 11:28 p.m. in Gouverneur Playground near St. Paul's Place and 3rd Avenue.

Officers responding to a report of a person shot located the male victim, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his torso.

EMS responded and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police later learned that a 24-year-old woman had also been shot in the arm and walked into a local hospital. She is listed in stable condition.

An official update from the NYPD has confirmed that the man was declared deceased at a local hospital after sustaining several gunshot wounds to the torso. A woman, now in stable condition, was later found shot in the arm as a walk-in hospital patient.
