Police exchanged gunfire with a suspect outside the Sumner Houses on Tuesday night, officials said.

At around 9:20 p.m. police noticed a dispute in front of 987 Myrtle Avenue.

Officials say that an individual involved in the dispute discharged a firearm in the direction of the officers.

One officer returned fire. 

Nobody was struck and one person was taken into custody for questioning.

There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
