Five people sustained minor injuries during a three-alarm fire that ripped through a four-story apartment building in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, early Monday morning.

The fire broke out at approximately 4:20 a.m. on E. 29th Street near the intersection of Tilden Avenue.

Firefighters called a second and then a third alarm as the flames spanned multiple floors and the danger both to the public and personnel was high.

Video footage captured by Citizen users showed heavy flames engulfing a second-floor unit and reaching toward the top of the building.

The fire appeared to be mainly concentrated between the second and third floors, but also spread to the top floor, according to emergency radio communications.

Firefighters placed the fire under control at 6:23 a.m., after a two-hour operation involving 33 fire units and 138 firefighters.

In total, three civilians and two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The FDNY has not provided a possible cause of the fire.
