A man was killed in an East Harlem shooting, police said. 

According to officials, at around 10:20 p.m. Monday, police responded to a 911 call of shots fired at 118th Street & 1st Avenue. 

Officers arriving at the scene found a man lying unconscious and unresponsive on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head.

A gun was found on the ground near the victim.

EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified a silver BMW that fled southbound on the FDR Drive as a suspect vehicle.

Officers followed the car as it exited at 53rd Street and took a 33-year-old man into custody.

A gun was found on the suspect and the car continued to flee east on 53rd Street.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are searching for a vehicle in connection with the possible shooting.

The vehicle is described as a BMW 5 series.

The address reported for this incident has changed to E 118th St & 1st Ave.

One suspect is in custody and police are searching for another suspect that fled in a vehicle.

The man has sustained life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle has a Virginia license plate of UHL1340.

According to a NYPD DCPI update, the injured man sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced deceased after being transported to a hospital by EMS. A suspect was detained after police followed a silver BMW sedan that fled from the scene of the shooting down East 53rd Street.
