A man was fatally shot in Stapleton Heights Saturday afternoon, officials said. 

Just after 3 p.m., police were alerted to a car crash near the intersection of Van Duzer Street and Beach Street. 

When they arrived, units located the car which had crashed into a parked blue van on the road. 

Upon further investigation, they discovered a 26-year-old man who had been shot in the torso. 

Medics arrived and transported the man to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. 

Homicide detectives are involved in an ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made.
