A 65-year-old man and a 6-year-old boy were killed in a fire that broke out inside a home in Murray Hill, Queens, early Monday morning.

At about 1:13 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a house fire on 157th Street near 45th Avenue.

Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the fire on the first floor of a two-story home.

Approximately 20 minutes into the operation, firefighters confirmed there were individuals present with injuries.

According to an update by the NYPD, firefighters found a 65-year-old man and a 6-year-old boy unconscious and unresponsive. EMS pronounced both victims deceased at the scene.

Another 6-year-old boy was also transported to an area hospital with burns. He is listed in stable condition.

In addition, two firefighters suffered minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals, the FDNY stated. Another person who was inside the house refused medical attention.

Firefighters placed the fire under control a little over an hour after it was first reported.

The NYC Fire Marshal is currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Firefighters report that two people were injured in the fire.

EMS advises that the potential for injuries is high.

Two children were reportedly injured in the fire. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Firefighters have three lines outstretched and in operation.

Firefighters have completed their primary search and found no one in need of assistance. The secondary search is ongoing.

EMS advises that four people were injured in the fire. One person suffered minor injuries, and a firefighter also suffered minor injuries. Two children died in the fire.

The fire has de-escalated and EMS advises that potential for injuries is moderate.

Firefighters have completed the secondary search on the second floor and found no one in need of assistance. The secondary searches on the first floor and the basement are ongoing.

EMS reports that an additional child suffered minor injuries from the fire.

EMS has transported the injured people to a local hospital.

An update from EMS clarifies that one adult and one child were killed in the fire. Another child and two firefighters were transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

According to a press release issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Public Information, a 65-year-old man and a 6-year-old boy were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second child, another six-year-old boy, was transported by EMS to a local hospital where he is stable and being treated for burns.
