Citizen user video captured a partial crane collapse in Greenpoint Thursday afternoon.

According to fire officials, at around 4:00 p.m. firefighters responded to 7 Bell Slip for a report of a piece of a crane dangling off the side of a skyscraper.

The crane was secured shortly thereafter and no injuries were reported.

The Department of Buildings responded to the area to evaluate the stability of the structure.

Firefighters have received a report of a crane falling over at a construction site.

Firefighters report a partial crane collapse. They report no damage to the building and that the building has been evacuated.

The area will be blocked off from traffic.

Firefighters report the piece of the crane broke off due to high winds.

Firefighters report the rest of the crane is secure and that the building was undergoing construction.

Firefighters are reporting now that the crane is unstable. The area surrounding the 31-story building will be blocked off from traffic.

The FDNY reported via Twitter that the crane cab and tower are secured in place and that no injuries have been reported. Units are continuing to evaluate the damage and structural integrity.
