Police recovered a woman's body from Jamaica Bay after it was discovered by a fisherman Tuesday evening.

The discovery was made about 4 p.m. in the water under Canarsie Pier off of Rockaway Parkway. The NYPD Harbor Unit responded and the Scuba Team found and retrieved the body.

EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene. 

According to a [report](https://brooklyn.news12.com/nypd-scuba-team-pulls-woman-s-body-from-jamaica-bay) citing police, the body was badly decomposed.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of the woman’s death. The victim has not been identified.
