A man was fatally shot in Brooklyn Saturday night, police said. 

NYPD officers responded to a report of a shooting inside of an apartment building at 580 East 17th Street in Flatbush around 7:30 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found a 62-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest.

EMS transported the man to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, police said. 

It is not known what prompted the shooting. 

No arrests have been made. 

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are shutting down all traffic to rush an ambulance into the scene of a person shot multiple times to the chest.

Police report they are performing CPR on the victim.

According to an update from the NYPD, a 62-year-old man died from injuries sustained in this shooting.
