Two men were shot when three armed suspects broke into their residence in Alphabet City late Tuesday night, according to a report citing police. A third resident was also reportedly assaulted.

The incident happened shortly before 9:40 p.m. at the Lilian Wald Houses on Avenue D.

The report states that the suspects knocked on the victims’ door. When the victims went to answer it, the suspects forced their way in and opened fire.

Officers responded and found the two gunshot victims. One man was shot in the groin; the other in the upper body. They were initially reported to be in critical condition, but a police update said they are expected to survive.

Police are searching for the three male suspects in their 20's, last seen fleeing southbound from the location. No arrests have been made.

Officers on scene advise there were two male suspects, both wearing black masks.

Officers on scene have requested an Emergency Services Unit.

Officers on scene advise one male suspect is 6'3" and the other is 6'1".

Police advised they are looking for three male suspects who fled the scene.

One man is described as Black, 6'3", wearing a camouflaged coat, black pants with red stripes, and black sneakers; the next as a Black man, 6'1", wearing all black clothing with white sneakers and black mask; the last man as wearing a green jacket, white camo hoodie, with black pants and sneakers.

Police advised the two men who were shot are in critical condition.

According to updated police reports, one man was shot in the groin and the other in the upper body, though both are expected to survive their injuries.
