Six people were struck by gunfire during a shooting in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens on Wednesday night, police say.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Hawthorne Street around 10:18 p.m. for a report of multiple people shot.

Upon arrival, units determined that six people had been shot.

The first victim—a 23-year-old man—was hit in the chest and taken to a nearby hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced dead.

Additional victims included three men—a 26-year-old shot in the right leg, a 29-year-old shot in the left leg, and a 27-year-old shot in the groin—and 29-year-old woman who was struck in the right leg. A 28-year-old man was also grazed in the back.

All five of the other victims were reported to be in stable condition.

Other circumstances surrounding the shooting are unclear. According to local news outlets, multiple suspects reportedly fired upon the victims from a white BMW.

No arrests have been made thus far. The investigation is ongoing.

The suspects are believed to be occupying a white 5-series BMW that fled westbound on Hawthorne Street.

Police consider the victims' wounds to not be life-threatening.

According to an official update from the NYPD, five men and one woman sustained gunshot wounds. One of the men has been pronounced deceased at an area hospital.
